Editorial policy

Sources

We rely on primary and authoritative sources: regulations (for example the US Code of Federal Regulations and EU legislation), Codex Alimentarius texts, official analytical methods, government guidance, peer-reviewed research and established textbooks. Every article lists its main sources.

Accuracy and limits

Safety-critical numbers such as thermal process conditions, pH limits and allergen thresholds depend on the product, process and market. When we give example values, we label them as examples and explain what must be validated. Our guides do not replace a process authority, certification body, regulator or legal adviser.

Independence

We do not accept payment to recommend products or methods. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, it will be clearly labelled. Advertising, when shown, is separate from editorial content and does not influence what we write.

Updates and corrections

Each article shows the date it was last updated. We review articles when regulations or methods change. If you find an error, contact us. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections in the article.

Use of AI tools

We may use software tools, including AI, to help with research, drafting and editing. Every article is reviewed for technical accuracy by a person with food science training before publication, and we take responsibility for everything we publish.
